Friday Flops: dr. brandt pores no more

All my life I had beautiful, perfect skin.
And then I moved to Florida.
Ever since my arrival in the Humidity Capital of The World, my skin has been waging a war against me. The most noticeable difference has been the appearance of big, gaping holes in my face. Apparently these are called pores.
And my pores? You could lose a set of car keys in my pores.
Even with a full face of makeup on my face bears a striking resemblance to a golf ball – what with the millions of little divets and all.
The pores and I are not friends.
So, it was with great optimism and hope that I plunked down $45 for
dr. brandt pores no more.
This product promises to conceal pores immediately and actually shrink them over time. Something about flax seed oil and pixie dust. I do not know how this stuff works, people, I only know what the little marketing signs tell me. And this one said pores. no. more.
It should have said “really expensive tinted primer” – because that’s what it is. Sadly, that’s all that it is.
When I use pores no more, I don’t notice a significant reduction in the appearance of my pores. Despite the instructions to basically spackle the holes in my face with this product, my complexion isn’t nearly as smooth as I had hoped for. It has the consistency of a good makeup primer with a little bit of a flesh colored tint, and it does seem to work well as a primer.
It did absolutely nothing for the actual size of my pores with daily use. On the plus size, it didn’t clog my pores, give me blackheads or make me breakout – so I guess there’s that.
But $45 for a primer? That’s ridiculous.

I was hoping you’d found ‘the one’. I’m using a combination of avon’s clearskin professional and anew retexturising peel discs. My skin’s still not great, but it’s better than it was. I’m thinking a new face is the only real answer.
I use simple scrub creams. I used to use Clinique 7 day scrub cream (I think that’s the name of it), which is really fine and won’t irritate your skin. But then I ran out of it, and got St. Ives scrubby stuff (I know – I am a glowing endorsement!), and even though it’s more rough, it still works!! Cheap, too!
@Sybil Law, the scrub helps with the size of your pores??
First of all, I hate you for growing up with perfect beautiful skin. So. Not. Fair.
I had acne as a teen and have it as an adult. I do not, however, have big pores.
I did go see an aesthetician once who told me she could shrink the pores on my nose using a chemical peel or something like that. All I heard was “let’s burn your face” so I passed. But you might go get a facial and ask.
