EOS: I Have Fallen In Love With Shaving Cream. Seriously.

by Miss Britt on August 11, 2009

eos-shaving-creamI would have never heard of it if it hadn’t been given to me for free.

I found it in an organic tote bag that someone had handed me at the BlogHer 09 conference.  I didn’t even know what it was when I saw it.

“Maybe it’s some kind of lotion,” I thought – because I don’t take the time to read labels well, apparently.  I tossed it into my suitcase with my 20 new tubes of free lip gloss and thought nothing of it until I got home.

I was unpacking my suitcase full of freebies and pulled out the blue bottle.

“Is that more lube?” my husband asked.  A fair question, since I’d already unpacked two different varieties from the swag bag.

“I don’t know what it is,” I said, and finally peered closer at the label.

“Evolution of Smooth.  Shaving cream.”  I set it in my shower and continued unpacking, completely unaware that I had just received the secret to sexiness and womanhood.

The next morning, I went to shave my legs in the shower.  I shook the tiny pink bottle of Skintimate shaving cream I’d been using.  Nothing.  I grabbed my husband’s shaving gel and shook again.  Empty.

Shit.

I noticed the big blue bottle with the funny pump head that I’d set on the floor of the shower the night before.  I pumped the topper, and a thick, white, lotion like substance oozed into my palm.

“What the hell?” I thought.  It was neither gel nor foam nor anything like what I expected in a shaving cream.

I slathered it on my legs.  It didn’t foam or make suds.  It didn’t create a thick layer on my skin.  Again, it reminded me more of lotion than shaving cream.

I raked my razor over my shin.  I remembered that I was going to change the blade.  “Screw it,” I thought.  “One last half ass job and I’ll replace it tomorrow.  No one is going to see me today, anyway.”

I quickly finished shaving my legs and underarms.  It went smoothly – more smoothly than I had anticipated considering the dull razor blade.  I rinsed off, washed the conditioner out of my hair, and stepped out the shower.

I noticed it when I was toweling off.

My legs were smooth.

Exceptionally smooth.

Smooth like I had just waxed my legs and rubbed myself down with baby oil smooth.

I raised my arm above my head and felt the skin in my arm pit with my fingers – because no one was watching me anyway.  And… my God.  Smoooooth.  Like, stupidly smooth considering arm pit skin smooth.

I reached back into the shower and picked up the big blue bottle.  I was suddenly grateful that I’d been given a full size sample.  The letters EOS jumped out at me.  Underneath, the acronym was explained in smaller letters.

“evolution of smooth”

I rolled the bottle over in my hands and read the back.

“We had a simple idea: let’s reinvent shaving with an ultra moisturizing cream that shaves closer and leaves your skin smooth long after you shave.

Welcome to the evolution of smooth.

*So moisturizing, you can shave wet or dry.

*Natural aloe, oat and shea butter soothe while boosting skin’s moisture level.

*Antioxidant vitamins E + C help skin look radiantly healthy.

DIRECTIONS: Apply thin layer to legs, underarms, or bikini.  Shave.  Touch.  Smile.”

That was it.  It was so simple.  Apparently, these people are just really into shaving cream.

I’ve been using the EOS shaving cream for about two weeks now.  I don’t have to shave near as often as I did before – although I have no freaking CLUE how that is possible.

This stuff is amazing.

I’ve used dozens of different kinds of shaving creams and never noticed one making a significant difference compared to another.  It’s just shaving cream, after all.

But this… this is better than just shaving cream.  This is fantastic.  This is silky smooth legs and arm pits in a bottle.  This is I want to touch my own damn legs awesomeness.

And, I can’t buy it anywhere near me.

BUT!  I can buy it online through the EOS web site, and it’s only about $6 with shipping and handling.

Try it.  You’ll thank me.

UPDATE: You can also buy EOS Shaving cream from drustore.comicon for less than $5!

@hello haha narf, The Ulta stores in Pittsburgh should have it. There is one at 162 Quinn Drive (412-490-3893) and another at 4801 McKnight Road (412-367-5166). Both should have it. We’re also working on getting it into Walgreens and Rite Aid. Hopefully soon!

I definitely have to “ditto” you on this one. Even using the cheap razors I got stuck with because, for some stupid reason the grocery store didn’t have any of the ones I normally use, this stuff still rocked.

And even made my husbands face feel all nice and soft and he didn’t get razor burn or anything like that, which he usually almost always gets because he has sensitive skin.

    Miss BrittNo Gravatar Reply:

@Sheila (Charm School Reject), shit. Are you suggesting I might have to share this with my husband who also has sensitive skin??

    [Reply]

Sheila (Charm School Reject)No Gravatar Reply:

@Miss Britt, I justify the abnormality of me sharing something awesome with my husband by reminding myself that I’m being totally selfish by doing so. By sharing, I don’t have to deal with the whole beard burn thing that I sometimes get on *my* sensitive skin from kissing him when doesn’t shave as often as he should so he can avoid the razor burn.

And he also thinks I’m awesome for sharing with him.

So it’s a win/win situation that makes going against my nature that much easier.

    Damn I’m wordy.

I looked on drugstore . com before I read the bottom about getting it through eos — they sell it for $4.99 with free shipping on over $25. I am definitely going to try the sensitive skin variety!

How funny, I’m halfway through a post about this very topic. I don’t do many product reviews, but I’m so loving this shaving cream from my Blogher swag bag that I want to tell everyone about it. It even works on my particularly sensitive bikini area.

I went to the EOS website based on your review and ended up buying 2 shave creams and 2 lip balms because they are the cutest things ever and I’m always in search of the perfect lip balm. Shipping was cheap at $2.75 flat and, although I hate waiting, I do love getting packages in the mail.

Thanks always for the candor and humor in your writing, Miss Britt.

Ok, between the post and the comments I’m definitely going to have to try this stuff. I’ve found that I can get the lip balm not far from me but I’ll have to order the shave cream.

I so have to get some of this! There’s a store in the town next to me that carries it, or I’ll order it online if I can’t find the store! I usually use Skintimate, but this sounds so much better.

Waaaaa! I gave ALL of mine to my daughter when I got home from BlogHer figuring it was the usual stuff and I usually just use soap or hair conditioner.

I’m going to see if any is left and steal it from her bathroom for a tryout…..

Ok ladies that have tried it….here’s a question for you. The hair on my legs grows out straight and prickly. I’m Casper white and the hair is dark. Therefore I have to shave EVERY day :( Any of you that have tried it…are your legs like this? If so, how did it work for you??

    Rachel –

Tried to reply directly, but it wouldn’t let me!

I have the same issues as you do. I still have to shave every day, but my legs are baby smooth and stay smoother all day. I love it!

    Howdy-do, Miss Britt!

I came away from BlogHer09 with two regrets:

    (1) That I didn’t meet you earlier than my freaking last hour there so I could buy you an adult beverage.

    (2) That the EOS Shaving Cream was too big for my carry-on.

But, I appreciate this fabulous review because I was curious about this product.

And, because this was such a thorough, honest review, I linked to your post on our blog, *Product Review Round-Up* under the category Beauty & Personal Care. The link is embedded in this listing:

“Conference swag find by Miss Britt: EOS Shaving Cream”

Thanks, dollin! I’ll keep watching your reviews for more link lovin!

I saw this at Target today. Two bottles for $5. I thought you wrote an article on it, so I bought the last two bottle pack. Target also sold one bottle for $3.50.
