Getting your makeup to look good in the morning is easy.
Getting your makeup to still look good in the afternoon is like trying to live on a diet of chocolate cake and ice cream:
some people do it, but no one knows how.
I had tried every eyeliner known to man and still couldn’t keep my eyeliner from either disappearing completely or dissolving into smudge circles under my eyes. I used liquid eyeliner, eyeliner pencils and even tried my hand at powder liner with an eyeliner brush. All of it yielded the same results – fabulous at 9am and craptastic by noon.
And then a Bare Escentuals makeup artist changed my life forever.
Now my eye makeup stays perfectly in place until I wash my face at the end of the day. My eyeliner survives rubbing, sweating and late afternoon naps without even a hint of smudging.
What’s my secret?
Bare Escentuals bareVitamins Prime Time Eyelid Primer
Yes, an eyelid primer. And yes, I had tried eyelid primers before and gotten less than stellar results.
What made a difference for me was learning how to use the primer with a powder eyeliner and eyeliner brush.
How to use eyelid primer to make your eyeliner smudge proof
1. Put a little bit of the eyelid primer on the back of your hand. You just need a dab.
2. Take your eyeliner brush and dip it into your powder eyeliner. (I use Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Liner Shadow in Tiger’s Eye.)
3. Using the brush, mix the eyeliner powder with the eyelid primer on the back of your hand.
4. Apply the eyeliner with the brush to the base of your upper and lower lashes.
5. Voila! Magic eyeliner that lasts forever!
You do need to work quickly because the eyelid primer is fast drying. If it dries before you finish both eyes, just add a little more eyelid primer to the mix.
Bare Escentuals Eyeliner Brush
In addition to the Bare Escentuals Prime Time Eyelid Primer and the Bare Escentuals Liner Shadow, I use the Bare Escentuals Eyeliner Brush.
It’s a great brush and you can get it on Amazon for $12.00. Since my eyeliner is going to be sticking around for the course of the day, I’d like to make sure it looks exactly the way I want it to.

Now, if only someone could explain that ice cream/chocolate cake/skinny bitch mystery to me…
