Facial Tanner: Jergens Natural Glow
Posted on April 20, 2009 by Miss Britt in Beauty
My mother is a natural redhead and she generously passed on her fair complexion, freckles, and tendency to burn if exposed to the sun for longer than 3 minutes.
(She did not, however, give me her beautiful hair color. Figures.)
Porcelain skin can be sexy. Nicole Kidman rocks the pale faced look. Unfortunately, I am no Nicole Kidman. My skin tone leans more towards pasty than porcelain.
What’s a pale faced girl to do when she wants a little summer color on her face but can’t step into the sunlight without burning up like an old world vampire?
Fake it.
Of course, anyone who has ever tried to tan at home with self tanners knows the horrors that can arise from dying your skin in your bathroom.
Streaks.
Orange skin.
White spots where you swear to God you touched yourself but apparently didn’t touch yourself enough.
It is because of all these tanning atrocities that I have avoided facial tanners and bronzing cremes in the past. Having an orange ankle and “dirty knees” can be hidden by wearing pants in 80 degree weather. But streak up your face? You’re pretty much screwed.
I can’t believe I was willing to even try using a self tanner on my face. I credit my friend Faiqa, who lovely encouraged me to acknowledge that I could benefit from a little color in my cheeks, even if it did come from a tan in a can. I also have to give props to the brilliant people at Jergens, who included a free sample of their Natural Glow Facial Moisturizer with a bottle of their body lotion.
ANYway – I tried it.
And the verdict is:
HOLY CRAP, THIS STUFF IS AWESOME!!!
Ahem.
Jergens Natural Glow FACE Daily Moisturizer is meant to be used in place of your regular moisturizer. This sounds like insanity, I know. I wash my face in the morning and apply the Jergens Natural Glow to my face the same way I would moisturizer. I wash my hands to avoid orange palms, apply my eye cream, and go on with my morning routine.
I noticed a difference within about 2 days. It was subtle – which is a good thing – but it was definitely there. My face started to develop a, well, a natural glow.
Seriously.
I had no problems with streaking. My eyebrows didn’t turn orange. And I didn’t break out from switching moisturizers. I still use my regular moisturizer at night and only apply the tanner in the morning, and my face has yet to wig out in retaliation.
I have sensitive skin and live with Florida humidity. My pores whack out if I fall asleep in my makeup one night. And yet everything is still going smoothly after three weeks of using the Jergens Natural Glow FACE moisturizer product.
I do recommend at least the medium shade, even for fair skin. Anything less and you won’t ever see results.
You can get Jergens face tanner at Walgreens, Wal-Mart, CVC – basically any place that sells lotion.

I am so going to give this a try! I need some natural color!!Thanks for the recommendation!
I really love that shizz, too. I CAN get tan, but I prefer not to, so this stuff is heavenly.
I will definitely give this a try. And I’ve been wndering about their body lotion tanner. Did it work? Did you try it???
my skin is so damn sensitive and red that using hilly’s wonder make up every once in a while is about all i can handle. you have me curious about this stuff, though.
i gotta ask…if the rest of me is pale, will my face look funny? (funnier than normal, i mean?)
Drat. I was just at CVS where I bought the Jergens Natural Glow Foaming Daily Moisturizer for the body. I would have bought that too. I also have sensitive skin, so it’s good to know it worked for you.
And the best thing is that it’s cheap.
I wish I could provide some great profound input here, but being :ahem: naturally tan…I just can’t. Glad it worked for you though!
