Friday Flops: ULTA eyeshadow brushes

Posted on March 27, 2009 by in Beauty, Friday Flops

It’s fun to show you all the things I want to buy or things I’ve bought that I love.  But anyone who goes shopping as much as I do knows that some things you buy suck.

ulta-eyeshadow-brushI cannot even tell you the hatred that I have for my new eyeshadow brushes from Ulta.

The bristles are stiff and scrape the crap out of my beautiful eyeshadow – and my eyelids.  They’re a pain in the ass to use and don’t just put the damn shadow where I want it.

And they are crap quality.  They shed like crazy and would have to be replaced in a few short months due to make up brush baldness, I’m certain.

I got them because they were cheap and I had bought a foundation brush from there before that worked fine.  Unfortunately, it’s back to the travel size brushes for me for now.

Sephora Brand Face & Eye Travel Tool Kit ($88 Value)

This is Sephora’s Face & Eye Travel kit.  The brushes are superb, especially considering they are mini and not really meant for daily use.  You can get the kit for $32 on Amazon.

Unfortunately, it IS a travel kit.  I think at some point I’m going to have to suck it up and dish out the cash for a real, big girl sized set for daily use.

Spread the love - share this!

Oooo… I’m looking for a good liner brush. That one in the kit – is it thin? I have one I bought from Target and while it doesn’t shed, I feel like it should be thinner to make a proper line. I use liner shadow (dry) and sometimes I’m afraid I’ll look like I smeared it.

Sephora brand things are reasonably priced (at least in comparison to the other stuff they sell) and I find the quality is very good.

I have the Sephora travel kit brushes, and I use the eye shadow brush every day no problem. Had it for months now.

Thanks for this review. I have been searching for some new brushes for a while. I LOVE my Avon ones, but need some more, and can’t always get ahold of the Avon lady..

I love the Sephora brushes! I think ULTA is the poor man’s Sephora anyway. ;)

stacy- avon has a website as do most of their reps (like me!) so you can get your brushes there.

mary kay also has nice brushes. i bought my foundation brush by ordering a trial of those RAW minerals. returned the kit, brushes were what i paid for shipping- 7.95 and it is an awesome foundation brush (regular and one travel sized)
