Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel – Because no one is too fat for a dress

Anti-chafing Gel

Anti-chafing Gel

I wear dresses because I feel too fat for shorts.

There.  I said it.

It’s not my keen fashion sense or my desire to dress up every single day.  It’s my overly ripe, pear shaped hips.  And ass.  And thighs.

I live in Florida and there is no freaking way I can endure 100+ temperatures in jeans.  No matter how fat my thighs are.  That leaves me with skirts and dresses.  Or nudity (which I hear is frowned upon in the Sunshine State).

Because dresses – especially this season’s maxi dresses – are my go to outfit for camouflaging thunder thighs, I am always amazed by women who tell me that they don’t think they can wear dresses because they are too heavy.

That’s like a super model telling you she doesn’t wear a bikini because she’s thin.

Why, oh why, were all of my female friends dismissing my oh so flattering fashion advice?

Oh.  Right.

Chafing.

The problem with wearing a dress or a skirt for a lot of women is that our thighs, um, rub together when we walk.  Look, it’s not sexy – but it’s a fact of life.  And it is senselessly keeping a lot of women out of some super cute clothes in the summer.

Thankfully, there is a cure for chafing.

Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel

I actually bought this to use as a primer.  Yes, I put a product made by monistat on my face to reduce the appearance of pores.  Don’t knock it until you try it.  The stuff works.

The reason it works is because it creates a thin layer of protection on your skin.  Like nylons, but made out of silicone.  Like implants, but not in your boobs.

And that’s the same reason it works so well as a solution for chafing.

You can buy it in just about any store that sells tampons.  In fact, that’s probably where you’ll find it – next to the tampons.  It’s only about $7 for a tube and a little bit goes a very, very long way.  I’ve never had to reapply it, although the tube is certainly small enough to slip in your purse just in case.

Spread the love - share this!

I use this as a primer and for chafing. Multi purpose for the win!
I love this stuff. And I understand, since I live in Florida too, how freakin’ hot it is outside.

  2. I will now stop spending $24 on a tiny, 2oz tube of face primer and check this out. Bonus that it works for chafing.

    Great advice!

  3. This stuff is awesome! I used it for running. It’s way better (and cheaper) than other sports glide products.

  4. hello wind beneath my wings, have i ever told you that you’re my hero?

i love this stuff so much i could just kiss you. but i know you frown on that girl-girl thing. instead just know that you have my undying love for this tip.

I use this stuff as a primer, too. But I’ve never used it for chafing, and I AM too fat for a dress. Perhaps I’ll give it a try.

Um, you are NOT too fat for shorts. WTF?!

Anyway, interesting! Never heard of this, but awesome!

Love the Monistat and I will tell anyone who’ll listen! I can’t believe they sell face primer for over $30 when this is perfect at $7.

Plus, if you check Amazon, I believe you can get a three-pack for cheaper than $7 per tube (which lasts for a long time, btw).

  8. Embarrassing Question of the Day :

    ::ahem::

I have fat thighs – like for real. I don’t wear dresses when it is hot out (unless it’s an event the requires a dress and pantyhose) because my thighs get sweaty and then, yeah, I basically trip over my thighs when they get stuck together because they are sweaty. (P.S. I sweat a lot too.)

Does this miracle product help with that too? If so, I really really love you.

@Sheila (Charm School Reject), It’ll be like spraying Pam on your thighs. Really. Smooth, not sticky. Oh, but not wet.

    • Miss BrittNo Gravatar says:

@Sheila (Charm School Reject), yep. That’s the only time I use it on my thighs – when I’m going to be hot and sweaty. It creates a barrier and does something where it like soaks up the sweat or something.

      It’s awesome.

      • @Miss Britt, @Finn YAY! I’m so going to go get this this weekend! Finally I can stop looking like a moron when I trip over my fat. Now I’ll just look like a moron when I trip over my feet but at least that is easier and less embarrassing to explain!

I have been waiting for this product for, like, 40 years!! I sometimes carry a small bottle of baby powder around, but it wears off.

Oh, and why didn’t someone tell me that you can use it on your face too? Between that and the Prep-H for under-eye baggage, you can cover all your makeup needs right there in the lady-stuff aisle of CVS!

It does work. No more making my own electricity.

I love this stuff! For every use! I am addicted to it for my face…I have annoying red cheeks and it gets even worse in the MS heat,,,NOT just FLA, gurls! This has helped tremendously, and helped clear up the occasional breakout that should never occur after fifty, but seems to! TRY it!

I am way too late to the party on this one, but WOW. I’m a convert. Muggy August day in Georgia, but I’m wearing a skirt. Fantastic.
