Just about 3 hours ago I realized I needed a zester. Because my cheap ass dollar store grater was NOT cutting it. (Please excuse the large chunks of lemon zest in the apple butter, ok? I'm pretty sure I got the piece of my knuckle that I grated off out, though.)
Guess I should have paid more attention to this post.

@Miss Britt, umm nope, no volcanos in Puerto Rico - I think it's made out of wood actually, but my mom's is a bit older and doesn't quite look like this one: http://antojitos.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=A&Product_Code=UTE90199&Category_Code=UTE

@Miss Britt, I know it as a molcajete. My mom has one of those volcanic rock ones that she brought with her from Mexico. I've already called dibs on it the day my mom decides she's not going to cook anymore (probably the day she moves in with me).

That zester looks much safer than using a grater, too.

*Love* a silicon basting brush!

My Pampered Chef garlic press is like my fourth child. It really is that good. I also have a salad spinner that cost me a Twoonie (that's 2 dollars in non-Canadian) 6 years ago and it's a well used gadget in our house. I love, love, love kitchen gadgets. Kitchen supply stores are my version of porn. In fact, the Pioneer Woman was giving away measuring cups from Anthropologie last week that made my nether regions flutter (*blush*).

(God, I can't believe I just typed that. I need a shower)

Finn stole my comment.

I love pretty much every single freaking Pampered Chef product. Their garlic press is the best I've ever used - with others I've not had the hand strength necessary to use it properly. It made my husband feel awesome because I needed him beyond the realm of jar opening but then I found out they had a gadget for that too! Now my husband is obsolete! LOL

Seriously though - their knives, cookware, etc are all awesome. And by having a party you get it for free.

Now, excuse me but I need to go google exactly what the fuck a salad spinner is.

I would skip the zester too. If you get the fine and med microplanes you'll use them for so much more! I grate whole nutmeg and fresh Parmesan with mine too (among other things) and that way it's a multi-use tool instead on a uni- tasker.

I love my mortar and pestle! I got a nice marble one on sale at World Market for $7 and I use it all the time, mostly for salad dressings.

I had the Misto and was not impressed. But I want some prep bowls -- I'm just looking for some that are silicone. Eventually I will stop looking and just buy the damn glass ones.

Have you heard of the Pampered Chef? You should have a Pampered Chef party. They have WONDERFUL gadgets and if you host a party you get FREE STUFF. http://www.pamperedchef.com/index.jsp?localeString=en_us
