The End Of Soap Scum

Scotch-Brite Soap Scum Erasers Help Keep Your Shower Sparkling Clean

One of my most dreaded household tasks is cleaning the shower. I have found it annoyingly impossible to get soap scum off my glass shower walls. Lately I’ve taken to just cleaning the shower walls while I was actually in the shower because it made it easier to rinse the cleaner off when I was done. But I really don’t like using those chemicals when I’m actually standing trapped inside a glass box.

On a recent Targeting excursion, I stumbled upon these little gems:

Scotch-Brite Soap Scum Erasers. I used one last weekend and I was blown away. It was quick and easy and best of all, it worked like nothing I’ve ever used before, even harsh chemicals.

The eraser itself is a two-sided sponge. The white side is the “eraser” side and the blue side is the traditional Scotch-Brite gentle scrubber. If you have stubborn spots or globs of shampoo, you can scrub them away with the blue side. Then just get the white side of the sponge wet and wipe the soap scum away. You get a few uses out of the sponge, and the white side will start to wear away. When it’s gone, it’s time to toss it.

I tried it while I was actually taking a shower, just like always, but now I know that I don’t have to do that anymore. It was so easy. But I figured the proof was in how it looked when the shower walls actually dried.  I am happy to report that four showers later, the glass walls are still crystal clear.

As an aside, I also use a daily shower cleaner (I use method’s) on the walls to keep soap scum build up at bay. Even with the use of one daily, soap scum will eventually come back. Having this under the sink to couple with my daily cleaner means I can have a clean shower quickly and easily!

I found my Scotch-Brite Soap Scum Erasers at Target. Target’s website says they are only available in stores. Amazon didn’t seem to have them yet. You can buy them directly from 3M on their website. They come in a two-pack and run about $2.50

Oooh, I need these! I have a plastic shower surround and even using my beloved Magic Erasers is a lot of work to remove the soap scum. I’m adding these to my grocery list to pick up this weekend. Thanks for the tip!
