Cocktail Rings – Because They’re Fabulous
Posted on April 6, 2009 by Miss Britt in Style
One of my favorite ways to make a fashion statement is with a great cocktail ring.
Nina Garcia lists a cocktail ring as one of the essential elements of style in her book The One Hundred.
And Nina Garcia knows her shit.
A cocktail ring is basically an oversized ring. It’s perfectly acceptable, and actually prefered, to go with a fake.
What I love about a cocktail ring is that it takes absolutely no effort and it makes a big statement. It says you tried, without having to actually try.
And did I mention they’re cheap?
(See examples for as little as $5 after the jump!)
Lazy, cheap fashion at it’s best.
Hey, I’m not a hand model – but you get the idea.
You can pick up cocktail rings all over the place. Target, Forever 21, gift shops and little boutiques.
Here are a few I found online (because honestly? Like I get the chance to wander through Target without kids in tow.):
On Amazon: Eve’s Addiction Emerald Cut Sapphire CZ Cocktail Ring – $32
On Amazon: Sterling Silver Canary CZ Cocktail Ring – 7.49
On Amazon: Victorian Style Cocktail Ring .- $29.99
On Amazon: Sapphire Blue Solitaire Multicolor CZ – $34.95
On Amazon: Turquoise Cocktail Ring – $34.99
On Amazon: Eve’s Addiction Amethyst Cocktail Ring – $49

On Amazon: Sterling Silver Marcasite Amethyst Flower Ring – $29.99
Forever 21: Relina Round Ring – $4.80

OK, OK, I’m done. My wallet can’t take anymore!!

Did you HAVE to link to Eve’s Addiction? I’m not allowed on that site anymore… so says the hubby. I haven’t even clicked any of the links and already have enough rings in mind that I ran out of fingers.
And… when will there be a button/graphic for those of us that want to link to Buy-Her on our blogs??? (That was my version of a subtle hint, just in case you missed it.)
Oddly enough, I am not a jewelry person, but I DO love cocktail rings!
Hmmm…can I make an obvious “cocktail ring” joke here, or would you prefer to save the jokes that work blue for your personal site?
@B.E. Earl, cock ring jokes are allowed.
We’re all grown ups here.
I love the cocktail rings but rarely wear them. I should do it more often!
Not a fan… I’m more of a necklace girl myself.
@Finn, you’re in luck. Statement necklaces are HUGE right now.
i like the savannah ring much better on your ring finger. on your index finger it didn’t do anything for me.
my hands are too big for statement pieces like you love. they look much better on me. i’m into massive necklaces and earrings. you know, stuff to make people look up and not at the size of my ass.
You had me at cheap.
P.S. gotta find a great cocktail ring for Blogher
I think some cocktail rings can be intimidating–they are meant to be large statements in general and I have small hands and fingers. I started to skip this post but I saw a beautiful Victorian looking piece or two and now I am salivating. I have shoes to buy dammit!
@LizHill, I usually don’t wear much else with them. But, as you can see, I do NOT have little fingers.
I have sausages. LOL
I am addicted to cocktail rings! The bigger, chunkier and funkier the better!
