Friday Flops: Laptop Bag doesn’t fit laptop

I hate it when the things I buy for myself don’t work out as planned.
I was so excited to find this Relic Laptop Bag at Kohl’s. It was on clearance sale for $11.00 and it seemed like the perfect fashionably geeky tech gift for myself.
I have to take my laptop back and forth to work. It’s a pain in the ass. When I saw this laptop bag I figured at the very least I could save myself some hassle by being able to use it as a computer bag and a purse, as opposed to lugging a laptop bag and a purse back and forth to work.
And it’s cute.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t actually hold a normal sized laptop computer.
That beautiful paisley laptop sleeve? It’s made for – I don’t know what. A computer that would fit into an 11″ x 15″ x 2″ computer sleeve, apparently.
My computer is 14″ x 10 1/2″ inches. So you’d think that it would fit. But, no. Not even close. I can’t even get the damn laptop all the way in the sleeve, let alone zip it shut.
I even tried to fit my old crappy 12 inch laptop into it, and that doesn’t fit either. So I’m basically stuck with a beautiful, useless tote. I guess I can use the tote itself, although black patent leather doesn’t exactly scream spring purse.
This is $19.98 and measures 17″ x 13″ x 4″. That sounds a lot more reasonable. It says specifically that it’s for laptops up to 15.4″. Brilliant.

I saw that same bag at Kohl’s and considered buying it, but I am glad I didn’t now…
@Stacy, yeah, unless you have a mini – it’s pretty useless.
The best laptop bags I’ve seen (and covet because my laptop is a 17 incher) are here: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=78675
I can’t wait to buy myself one but something keeps coming up!
@Karen Sugarpants, WOW! Those are gorgeous!
I want one that can double as a purse. Is that unrealistic?? lol
i wheel around a massive suitcase thingie! perhaps i need to invest in something else. and that something else should be cute. gotcha.
@hello haha narf, yeahhhh – I don’t see me doing THAT on a day to day basis. LOL
Why don’t you return it? I have several laptop bags-and now I want one of those Etsy ones! The most useful I have is from Target and the brand is Merona. Black with hot pink liner, it has a padded section for the computer. And room for other stuffhttp://www.target.com/Merona-Microfiber-Tote-Black/dp/B000FCE9L4/sr=1-17/qid=1239379972/ref=sr_1_17/178-2621368-5846611?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=0&pricerange=&index=target&field-browse=1041790&rh=k%3Alaptop&page=2. I think this is it: I use it as work/computer/baby bag as well as purse.
I have others that are more “original,” but this is by far the most useful.
Those etsy bags are the prettiest I’ve seen ever. Thanks for the link!
It amazes me when things like this don’t list the dimensions of the laptops that will fit.
I’ve written copy for the Levenger catalog, and every single laptop sleeve, tote, brief, etc. stated, “fits laptops up to…”. This should be a no-brainer.
BTW, black and white is very spring, so you could make that tote work if you really like it. And you can trust me because I’m a trendsetter. Clearly.

I just ordered one of the bags from the etsy link. I can’t wait for it to arrive! Thanks to Karen for posting the link.
Some fo the simple bags are actually the most saught after. I prefer a simple leather bag, call me boring but also call me elegant
