Laptop Backpack Bag – I am in LOVE.

A friend of mine recently mentioned that carrying a laptop through an airport is much easier with a laptop backpack, as opposed to a shoulder bag.  I’m headed for Chicago next week for the BlogHer conference and had kind of been dreading hauling my laptop around for four days.

The laptop backpack seemed like the perfect solution for my aching shoulders and back.

I jumped on Twitter and asked if anyone had any recommendations for good laptop backpacks.  Within seconds, @ShredderFeeder told me about his Swiss Army bag and @Laci_Loo told me about a laptop backpack on sale at Amazon.  As luck would have it, it was a SwissGear bag (which I am almost positive is what Swiss Army bag means) that was on sale!

My new SwissGear laptop backpack arrived this week.

I was happy with how it looked.  It isn’t cheap or tacky looking, and I can see carrying this around with me.

I’ve had a really hard time getting my 17″ laptop to fit comfortable into laptop bags.  The one I have been using is a very tight fit and it makes airport security lines an extra pain in the butt.

There is plenty of room in the laptop pocket for the computer and all of the power cords, mouse, mouse pad, etc. etc. etc. accessories you need.

There are also two additional generously sized pockets to hold pretty much everything else I will need or want to haul around with me – whether to and from the airport, or at a conference for 8+ hours.

wearing-laptop-back-packBest of all, wearing the backpack is extremely comfortable.  The shoulder straps are padded, which I’m sure helps.  But the fact that the damn thing is just equally distributed across my back and shoulders instead of hanging off my one shoulder makes all the difference in the world.

In fact, carrying the backpack is SO comfortable

adam-with-laptop-backpack- I don’t feel bad asking someone else to carry it for me.

Get the SwissGear Computer Backpack (Red) on Amazon for less than $40.

You wrote a most awesome review girlie! I mean even if all your crap fits in it, we all know what really matters is how it looks when it’s strapped on your back! And it’s looks good (as do you!)

That is a cute bag for your red laptop! :)

I need a messenger bag. I can’t wear a backpack, it KILLS my back. I saw this fanfreakingtastic Sony Vaio leather messenger bag at the Sony store at THE Menlo Park Mall last weekend. WOW. $100, though.

I wish they’d made those when I bought my last briefcase. I have the most difficult time using escalators trying to juggle two bags and not fall down! That looks like the perfect solution!

That is the EXACT same lap top, and same size, that I have! Mine is named Ruby, what about yours? LOL

Okay, I’m gonna have to get one of those bags. Do you think it would be okay to wear with my dresses and skirts when I go to work??? LOL Like I care. I just need something to put her in!

I bought a laptop bag right after I bought my laptop. Supposedly the bag was the right size for my laptop, but upon bringing it home, cutting off all the tags and falling desperately in love with its red leathery goodness, I discovered the laptop compartment was just slightly too small. I settled for using another compartment, but still.

And carrying that thing around all the time, with all of my laptop accessories? Kills my shoulder. So I tried using a Jansport — which is normally comfortable — backpack. It was awful. My neck and shoulders were a mess for days.

All of this to say that I definitely want to buy this bag now. Does it come in any other colors, by any chance? I have a lot of red stuff and I don’t want to be one of many carrying around the red model. (Figures; the only time I care about fashion is when it revolves around a bag…)

(I’m catching up on posts from when were were on vacation.)

Can you tell me what size your laptop is? I’ve been looking for a bag for my husband and keep coming up empty handed.

    Thanks!
