Marc Jacobs, Polka Dots, and You

I’m exhausted. I’ve seen more runway shows in the past week than I’ve seen in my entire life. I’ve ogled Rodarte, Vera Wang, Rebecca Minkoff, Michael Kors, Diane Von Furstenburg, and others.
And I haven’t even left my couch. Live streaming of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is so cool.
Marc Jacobs is consistently one of my favorite designers so I always make a point to watch his runway shows live. I adore that he’s made high fashion accessible through his Marc by Marc Jacobs line and his trinkets & trash Bleeker Street store (and I say that as a loyal shopper whenever I’m in NYC) and that there’s always a conscious effort to avoid a disconnect between the fashions of Marc Jacobs International and Marc by Marc Jacobs.
One of the common threads that was most apparent to me for fall 2011 was polka dots. As a long time polka dot lover (I’ll spare you from a photo of the polka dot section of my closet) I may have audibly squealed when I saw the first pair of polka dot clad legs stride down the runway of the Marc Jacobs International show.
And again when I saw the flowy 70′s style polka dot dresses and tops magically appear on the Marc by Marc Jacobs runway.
Which, as you could have guessed, sent me into a tizzy of online shopping in my quest to OWN EVERYTHING POLKA DOTS. It wasn’t pretty. But these polka dot fashions are:
- Free People Polka Dot Shorts $58
- Top Shop Polka Dot Wide Leg Trousers $90
- Chloe Polka Dot Taffeta Skirt $162
- Temperley Polka Dot Buckle Skirt $126
- Charlotte Russe Polka Dot Wedge $35.50
- Marc Jacobs Polka Dot Tunic $895 (Marc’s love of polka dots knows no season.)
- Forever21 Polka Dot Sleeveless Dress $21.80
- ASOS Polka Dot Shirt Dress $56
- Top Shop Polka Dot Parka $55
- Felix Rey Polka Dot Frame Clutch $115
- Marc by Marc Jacobs Polka Dot Tee $138 (Marc clearly has a long history of polka dots.)
- Madame a Paris Polka Dot Blouse $69
- Top Shop Polka Dot Pussybow Shirt $70
- Nude Polka Dot Scarf $19

Polka dots are something I would only wear very sparingly. I prefer them on walls, actually!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen polka dots on walls, but I think I’d like it!
