My favorite thing about fall is the boots!
Posted on October 21, 2009 by Miss Britt in Shoes
Listen, I realize it has been fall for most of you people for weeks, and I should have probably started talking about fall fashion sooner. But, well, I have been crying myself to sleep every night in my air conditioning here in Florida, instead.
And then, this past weekend, the temperatures dipped just low enough for me to gaze longingly at my favorite knee high boots… and then to pull them out, pet them lovingly, and whisper “soon, my pretties, soon.”
This is totally normal behavior, by the way.
So, fine. Let’s talk about one of my two favorite things about fall that the rest of you have been enjoying forever.
Fall boots!!
Ladies, let’s shop.
Let’s start at onlineshoes.com – home of free shipping, free exchanges, and 1600+ styles of boots.

Ariat Adelaide – Brown – $169.95
I’ve never owned a pair of cowboy boots in my life, because I’m not from Texas and I don’t live on a ranch. I am, however, seriously rethinking my stance on cowboy boots after seeing these.

Steve Madden Gammbble – $109.95
Realistically, I’m much more likely to end up in a pair like these. They still look kind of rugged, right?

Steve Madden Tyller – $79.95
I love slouchy suede boots. They look so soft and bohemian.
Naturalizer Hunter – $134.95
The name says “hunter”, but I’m thinking “biker”. And by biker, I mean hot. The Naturalizer brand makes me think these would be extremely comfortable.
Pazzo Popsicle – Red – $74.95
Two words: Totally. Practical.

Diba Bing – Black – $79.95
Every woman should have a pair of DMBs in her closet. If you don’t know what DMBs are, ask your mother.
OK, fine, I’ll tell you. DMBs: Do. Me. Boots.
Naturalizer Bradbury – $84.95
These zip and stretch, and they are a great basic, versatile, practical and yet fashionable boot.
Moving on from OnlineShoes.com…
ALBERTO GUARDIANI from YOOX.COM – $315
If you can afford these, I hate you. But all will be forgiven if you let me borrow them. My GOD these are beautiful.
L.e.i. – Women’s Ashley Velveteen Boots – $25
And on the complete opposite end of the spectrum… black ankle boots. From Wal-Mart. I promise I won’t tell anyone where you got them if you promise not to tell anyone I suggested you buy shoes from Wal-Mart. Deal?
Minnetonka Ankle Hi Tramper Boot – $49.95
HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHA. I’m kidding. God, not even a trip to Wal-Mart would make me crazy enough to ever be caught dead in these things. Unless I was dressing up as an Indian for Halloween.
CAFe’NOIR High-heeled boots on YOOX.COM – $82
I honestly can’t decide if I love these boots or hate them. They are, at the very least, interesting.

Nine West Women’s Look Boot – $79.99
Personally, I don’t think anyone makes a better boot than Nine West. I bought my first pair of Nine West boots last year in New York City and they are the most comfortable boots I’ve ever owned.

Nine West Women’s Ragtime Boot – $62
I am partial to knee high boots. But I suppose it’s OK if you like your boots a little bit lower. Apparently they are in style.

Naughty Monkey D Ring Suede Boot – $89.90
Excuse me for a moment. I’m trying to figure how in the hell I have gotten this far in life without grey boots.

Nine West Ideally Ankle Boot – $80.90
I think Madonna had a pair of these in the 80s. Which is not to say that I do not want a pair very, very much in 2009.

Michael Antonio Milo Ankle Boot – $59.95
These are gorgeous. And edgy. And any other adjective in the world that describes taking a basic pair of jeans and turning them into hot, sex.
But let’s end on a practical note…

Cl By Chinese Laundry Staff Patent Boot – $59.99
And under the boots, of course:
SPANX Perfectoe! Panty Hose
(or your husband’s dress socks. You know, whichever.)

These boots would all be great if I could fit them over my oversized calves! I don’t suppose these come in wide widths!:)
@Casey, I have GINORMOUS calves too. And not, sadly, because I am in great shape.
Zippers and stretchers. My Nine West boots fit WONDERFULLY over my legs.
The Chinese Laundry ones shown here? I could never where.
Look for boots with zippers AND stretch OR the slouchy style.
I love boots. Lucky for me they keep it so cold at my job, I can wear them year round. And I’m in Florida.
How many pairs of boots can one reasonably justify whilst living in Hell?
When I look at these I feel like a teenager trying to decide who she likes best: John Stamos, Ralph Macchio, Tom Cruise, Scott Baio… (shut up, I’m OLD).
@Finn, How many pairs?
Let me check…
Three.
Four if you count the purple paisley pair.
No. Wait. Five. There was a pair hiding in the second row.
And you know what? I STILL am looking for the perfect pair of black boots that I do not yet have.
So there.
(Florida by the way is the perfect place for boots because you can add a pair of boots to a skirt or dress in the fall/winter months and suddenly be just warm enough for the slightly cooler weather.)
I know this is mean, but you NEED a pair of DUO boots. I’m not going to link it but google Due boots. They make them to fit your calves and are heavenly.
By which I mean: google duo boots.
Holy shizz. I have 5 pairs of boots and just the other day I was longingly salivating over more. I am shocked at those Wal Mart boots! But the Guardini boots – gaaaaaaaaaaaaah! They make me want to cry! Perfection! Too bad I can’t buy them.
I also even found some cute boots at Payless. Seriously.
Wah!! My legs are too chubby and stubby for boots!
@Sheila (Charm School Reject), bullshit. Your legs are no more chubby and stubby than mine!
@Miss Britt, No – I’m serious. I tried on a pair boots once and the zipper zipped my calf, which led to much hopping and cursing in the middle of the shoe store.
Maybe I really am just fashion retarded and don’t know what looks good? I dunno – I think I look like an idiot in every pair of boots I’ve ever tried on.
@Sheila (Charm School Reject), there is a DSW by Adam’s house. Maybe I should take you there?
@Miss Britt, Hahahaha! Probably. My idiocy when it comes to dressing myself is the bane of my best friend’s existence!
I love boots! I have a great black pair made by Simply Vera Wang that is sold at Kohls. Also a cute brown pair by Apt 9 – also at Kohls. Can you tell I shop at Kohls? I’m loving those grey boots!
In my world, DMB = CFM (Come f*ck Me)boots. That’s what all my friends call ‘em.
xo
Fiiinally my post about BOOTS!
LOVE the Gammbbles. Trying to not buy boots until November, I already am up to 20 pairs in a year, it’s a sickness.
“Or your husband’s dress sucks,” heh heh.
I have a pair of DMB’s, but they are so freaking uncomfortable. Lately I’ve been wearing these booties from Target, or my Ugg knockoffs with leggings.
