Low Carb Margarita Recipe – by Request

I mentioned over on Miss Britt yesterday that I make a fabulous homemade, low carb margarita. Of course, you can’t say something like that without someone asking for the recipe!
This is so, so easy to make (once you figure out that you can use your cheese grater to zest a lime).
1 teaspoon grated lime zest
*let me take time out here to explain how one gets lime zest, in case I am not alone in wondering WHAT THE HELL?!?!? or in realizing I DO NOT OWN A ZESTER!!!! I SUCK AS AN ADULT!!!
Take a whole lime and scrape the skin with a cheese grater. Voila! Lime Zest!
The rest of the ingredients needed for the Low Carb Margarita:
1 tsp grated lime zest
1 tbsp granular sugar substitute (SPLENDA)
3 cups ice cubes
6 ozs. tequila! (3/4 cups)
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
2 tbsp fresh orange juice
4 lime wedges
Put lime zest and Splenda in blender. Add ice, tequila, lime juice, and orange juice, and blend.
VOILA! Low Carb Margarita!
The limes are for garnish.
Net carbs: 15 grams
These kick the crap out of the mix. Trust me.

Isn’t 15 grams of carbs still pretty high for a drink? Or is that for the whole pitcher. Which you managed to drink all on your own. And then tried to stab me.
If you don’t have a zester you can drink the tequila and use a ped egg and in between shaving your feet zest the lime 9does skin have any carbs)…j/k really- what is the breakdown on what has so many carbs- is it the tequila or the limes. You can also zest using a potato peeler or the edge of a knife
sounds tasty. except that spenda part. i don’t think that stuff is quite right. me thinks i would rather be fat than ingest that stuff. unless you sneak it in when you make me a pitcher of these bad boys.
just make sure you wash the pesticides off of the limes before you zest! (it drives me crazy when i have fruit floating in my drinks because i used to work in a restaurant and know that no one washes those fuckers before cutting them up. blech!)

You need a microplane, sugar. Things labeled as zesters are a pain in the ass compared to a microplane. Get a small and a large and you’ll be a happy camper–especially after a pitcher of margaritas

That sounds like a lot of work. Me? 2 shots tequila, 1 shot triple sec, margarita mix and an orange slice. Enough of that you don’t care about carbs.
